Honoring the Valor of Kargil War Heroes
On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of the Kargil War, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described 'Operation Vijay' as not just a military triumph but also a testament to courage, patience, discipline, and patriotism. Ahead of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Tuesday, Singh flagged off the 'Shaurya Vijay Yatra' motorcycle rally at the National War Memorial. He emphasized that this event pays tribute to the bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of the Indian soldiers who participated in this conflict.
Singh remarked that this event is not merely about launching a motorcycle rally; it is a moment to honor the indomitable spirit that led our brave heroes to sacrifice everything for India's honor, pride, and dignity. He expressed his commitment to keeping the memories of our immortal martyrs alive for generations to come. The Defence Minister highlighted the significance of the campaign's name and motto, stating that 'Shaurya Vijay Yatra' (Journey of Valor and Victory) serves as an inspiration in itself. Its motto, 'One Ride, One Nation, One Salute,' profoundly encapsulates the essence of this initiative, conveying a beautiful and impactful message.
Reflecting on the soldiers' bravery during the war, Singh noted that at altitudes of nearly 20,000 feet—where breathing is challenging, oxygen levels are low, and temperatures can plummet to minus 40 degrees—our courageous soldiers achieved the impossible in such harsh and adverse conditions. Where nature had obstructed the path, our soldiers forged a new route in history with their unparalleled courage. According to Singh, Operation Vijay is a chapter studied and respected by armies worldwide.
He shared that this campaign will cover approximately 1,900 kilometers over 13 days, starting from the National War Memorial and passing through Chandimandir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Ladakh, culminating at the Kargil War Memorial on July 26. Singh emphasized that this journey is not just about covering distance; it is a journey of connecting with history, sacrifice, and patriotism. He stressed that the victory in Kargil reflects India's unwavering resolve to protect its land, identity, and honor.
Singh asserted that the Kargil victory is not confined to a single date; it symbolizes India's steadfast commitment to respond with full force to any threat against its land, identity, and honor. He expressed confidence that this campaign would inspire the youth and preserve the memory of the martyrs.
