Call for Justice in Vimal Negi's Case

Hamirpur: Rajendra Rana, a former MLA from Himachal Pradesh, has expressed his support for the High Court's decision to transfer the investigation of HPPCL engineer Vimal Negi's suspicious death to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He views this move as a crucial step towards achieving justice and accountability.

In a press conference, Rana referred to the court's ruling as a “significant victory for the truth,” emphasizing that it aligns with the calls from the victim’s family, civil society, and the public for an unbiased investigation.

“The community has persistently sought transparency and fairness in this matter. The High Court’s ruling has restored confidence in our judicial system,” he remarked.

Rana criticized the state government led by Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, alleging attempts to conceal the issue from the beginning. He claimed that the investigation was manipulated to shield certain influential individuals. “It was evident from the start that when powerful figures are involved, a fair investigation by state agencies is unlikely,” he stated.

Pointing out inconsistencies in reports from high-ranking government and police officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP), Rana suggested that these contradictions indicate a deliberate effort to hide the truth. He described the investigation as “compromised at every level.”

“This case transcends a mere suicide; it raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of the state machinery and the government's commitment to justice,” he asserted.

With the CBI now overseeing the investigation, Rana expressed optimism that the truth would finally emerge, holding all parties accountable, from lower-level individuals to high-ranking officials. “The message must be clear: no one is above the law,” he declared.

He also urged the government to heed the public's call for accountability. “In a democracy, governance is evaluated based on transparency and responsibility. The court’s ruling serves as a reminder that ultimately, the system must be accountable to the people,” he added.

Rana concluded by expressing his belief that the CBI would handle the case with the seriousness it warrants, ensuring justice for the Negi family.
