Rajasthan's Vision for Industrial Growth

In Jaipur, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma aims to foster industrial development across various sectors to attract investment and create ample job opportunities for youth in the private sector. In line with this vision, the Department of Industry and Commerce has introduced approximately 15 new sector-specific policies. A dedicated state-level Textile Cell has been established to enhance the implementation of the Rajasthan Textile and Apparel Policy-2025. Additionally, a district-level textile export action plan has been developed for the state and 11 districts.

This initiative includes seven champion districts selected by the central government—Ajmer, Bhilwara, Jaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur, and Kota—as well as four aspirational districts: Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Nagaur, and Churu.

Nilabh Saksena, the Commissioner of Industry and Commerce, stated that this cell will undertake multifaceted efforts to promote textile units in the state and provide information on the latest technologies. Activities will include identifying obstacles through visits to industrial areas, engaging with industry experts, entrepreneurs, and exporters, studying major textile hubs both nationally and internationally, and participating in textile exhibitions. The cell will also compile and analyze comprehensive data related to the textile sector. A two-day textile summit is planned for October this year.

Under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS), the government has designated textiles as a thrust area, offering additional benefits.

Saksena further mentioned that the Indian government has set a target to increase textile and apparel exports to $100 billion by 2030. Rajasthan aims to multiply its textile exports by three to four times, with efforts already underway to achieve this goal. The total exports from Rajasthan exceeded ₹97,171 crores in the fiscal year 2024-25, with textiles and related sectors contributing approximately ₹13,500 crores, accounting for over 13% of total exports.

Rajasthan ranks first in wool production and fifth in cotton production.

The state contributes nearly 47% to wool production and holds the fifth position in cotton production. Currently, there are over 1,800 textile and apparel units in Rajasthan. The textile industry in the state is renowned globally for its traditional techniques, handblock printing, and diverse fabrics. Various textile products are exported from the state, and there are immense export opportunities in this sector, which the current government is actively pursuing.
