Key Decisions from the Rajasthan Wildlife Conservation Meeting
In Jaipur, a significant meeting of the Rajasthan Protected Area Conservation Committee (RPACS) took place on Monday, chaired by Chief Secretary V. Srinivasan. The assembly focused on various aspects of wildlife conservation and management within the state's protected areas, leading to crucial decisions.
During the session, an annual budget and action plan amounting to ₹144.43 crores for the fiscal year 2026-27 received approval.
The Chief Secretary outlined that these funds will be allocated towards activities such as habitat improvement, village rehabilitation, grassland development, water source enhancement, conservation infrastructure, wildlife protection, research, monitoring, and reducing human-wildlife conflicts.
The assembly also reviewed the progress of the annual action plan for 2025-26, expressing satisfaction over the expenditure of ₹62.42 crores, and approved the recommendations of the executive committee along with the audited financial statements for the fiscal year 2025-26.
Additional financial provisions were sanctioned for raptor conservation, ensuring year-round drinking water availability for wildlife, voluntary village rehabilitation, and enhancing hunting bases. Furthermore, it was decided to connect representatives from the central government and subject matter experts to the committee and to organize a national-level workshop in 2026.
