Rajasthan Society Lease Registrations Resume Amidst Confusion

Resumption of Society Lease Registrations

In Jaipur, following the notification of the e-registration law, the registration and stamp department has reversed its unofficial ban on transactions based on society leases. On Friday, officials clarified that the registration of society leases would continue as before, dispelling any confusion surrounding the matter. This assurance led lawyers to halt their protests, and by Friday afternoon, the registration process resumed as usual.

Resolution of Stalemate Between Administration and Lawyers

To resolve the deadlock that had persisted for two days between the administration and lawyers regarding registrations, a series of meetings took place on Friday. Devendra Kumar Jain, the DIG of Stamp (Jaipur), assured the protesting lawyers that there were no restrictions on the registration process and that society leases would be registered as they had been previously.

Impact of the Stalemate on Registrations

Following this clarification, lawyers involved in registration returned to their duties. Reports indicate that over 2,000 registrations were stalled due to the inactivity at the registration office in Jaipur on Thursday and Friday. Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday.

Government Engagement in the Matter

In response to the lawyers' protests, officials from the registration and stamp, urban development, and cooperation departments became actively involved. They met with a delegation of protesting lawyers on Friday evening to discuss the situation. Akhilesh Joshi, a former secretary of the District Bar Association, stated that the confusion arose from a misinterpretation of the orders by the registration and stamp department.

Congress Party's Protest

The Congress party also staged a protest on Friday regarding this issue. RR Tiwari, the president of the District Congress Committee, submitted a memorandum to the collector, demanding that the registration of society leases be maintained as it was previously.

Understanding the Confusion and Its Impact on the Public

The registration and stamp officials misunderstood the implications of the order that took effect on December 2 concerning e-registration. Consequently, several sub-registrar offices in Jaipur ceased accepting documents for the registration of society leases. This led to a protest by lawyers, resulting in a complete halt of the registration process for two days.
