Teen Prodigy Eyes Gayle's Six-Hitting Record

At just 15 years old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi from Rajasthan Royals is on the verge of surpassing Chris Gayle's record for the most sixes in a single Indian Premier League (IPL) season. With only seven sixes needed to break Gayle's impressive tally of 59 sixes set in 2012, the upcoming eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) could be his final opportunity this season.

Sooryavanshi is having an extraordinary season, amassing 583 runs across 14 matches with an average of 41.64 and a remarkable strike rate of 232.67. His performance includes a century and three half-centuries, showcasing consistency akin to seasoned players like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, along with the explosive style reminiscent of Gayle.

Currently, he has hit 53 sixes, with more than half of his runs coming from maximums. If he maintains his current form, achieving seven sixes should be within reach for this young batting talent. This season, he has managed to hit a six every 4.7 balls. Achieving this milestone would not only break Gayle's record for the most sixes in a single T20 tournament but also align with his ambition to score the first-ever double century in T20s, as he expressed on Kevin Pietersen's YouTube channel.
