Safety Measures for Kanwar Pilgrims

The Rajasthan Police have released guidelines for the Kanwar Yatra, urging all relevant police officials to ensure vigilance, coordination, and effective security management during the pilgrimage. Following directives from Police Director General Rajiv Kumar Sharma, Additional Director General (Law and Order) V.K. Singh has instructed district police heads to maintain enhanced coordination and vigilance throughout the Kanwar journey.

V.K. Singh noted that devotees from Rajasthan and other states will be returning home with Ganga water from Haridwar between July 30 and August 11. Given the expected influx of Kanwar pilgrims in Rajasthan, police have been advised to exercise heightened alertness.

Devotees are encouraged to carry their original and valid identification documents, such as Aadhaar cards or voter IDs, during their travels. They are also advised to use only designated traditional and alternative routes for the pilgrimage.

The Additional Director General has mandated that all police superintendents and deputy commissioners implement effective ground management, ensuring that any incident reported is addressed by the nearest police team within ten minutes. He emphasized the need for strict monitoring of social media to prevent the spread of fake or outdated videos and rumors. Furthermore, any sudden changes to traffic arrangements without prior notice will be avoided.

According to the guidelines, police forces will be stationed on rooftops in mixed and sensitive areas along the Kanwar route, and comprehensive videography of the entire path will be conducted.
