Arrest in Exam Paper Leak Case

Jaipur, August 3 - The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police has apprehended an assistant engineer from the Water Resources Department in connection with the leak of the Junior Engineer Combined Recruitment Examination-2020 question paper. Officials disclosed this information on Monday.

According to Vishal Bansal, Additional Director General of SOG, the arrested individual has been identified as 31-year-old Atul Meena, who is stationed in Kota. He is accused of purchasing the leaked question paper for a sum of 2.5 million rupees.

Bansal further explained that a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the Sanganeer police station in 2020, leading to the cancellation of the recruitment examination. A re-examination was conducted on September 12, 2021, but investigations revealed that the question paper for this exam had also been leaked prior to the test.

On January 19, 2026, the SOG registered a new case and initiated a comprehensive investigation. During the inquiry, a previously arrested suspect, Harshvardhan Kumar Meena, admitted to providing the leaked question paper to Atul Meena and several other candidates before the exam. It was discovered that Atul Meena had arranged the deal through a close associate of the main accused to obtain the question paper ahead of the examination.

Officials noted that Atul Meena had previously participated in approximately a dozen other competitive exams but had not succeeded in any. He has been presented in court, where he was remanded to police custody until August 5. The SOG is currently interrogating him to gather information about other beneficiaries, the question paper leak network, and the entire operation.

Bansal confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and actions will be taken against others based on the evidence collected.
