Concerns Over Nursing Staff Promotions in Rajasthan

In Jaipur, the Rajasthan Nurses Association has voiced serious concerns regarding the delays in promotions for nursing staff and the alarming number of vacant positions. Manoj Dubbi, the Executive State President, highlighted that there are numerous vacancies from Senior Nursing Officer to Nursing Superintendent roles. Although the government claims to conduct promotions biannually, no promotions for nurses have occurred in the last five years.

At the hospital affiliated with Sawai Mansingh Medical College, out of 90 Nursing Superintendent positions, only 4 are currently filled, leaving a staggering 86 vacancies. Similarly, at SMS Hospital, only 4 out of approximately 29 Nursing Superintendent roles are occupied, with two more expected to become vacant in July and August.

Ashok Sapotra, the State President, noted that around 25 District Nursing Superintendent positions remain unfilled, along with 2 sanctioned posts at SMS Hospital. Dubbi emphasized that timely promotions can only be achieved with the establishment of a Nursing Directorate and Nursing Cadre. The nurses are urging the government to take immediate action.
