Call for Enhanced Higher Education Enrollment

The Governor of Rajasthan, Haribhai Bagde, emphasized the need for significant efforts to boost enrollment in higher education within tribal regions. Speaking on Friday, he stated that the quality and timeliness of education directly influence its usefulness and meaningfulness in life. This address took place during the online inauguration of newly constructed academic buildings, the Vice-Chancellor's residence, and a statue of Swami Vivekananda at Govind Guru Tribal University in Banswara.

According to an official statement, he highlighted the necessity for targeted initiatives to increase higher education enrollment in tribal areas. He referred to the teachings of Swami Vivekananda as still relevant today, noting that his educational philosophy focuses on character building, self-confidence, and holistic development for students. The Governor also urged universities to continuously strive for the intellectual growth of their students.

In line with the campaign for a drug-free India, the Governor stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue and public awareness with local communities to eradicate substance abuse in Rajasthan. He remarked that the tribal community is the true guardian of water, forests, and land, suggesting that universities should conduct more research on the traditional knowledge and practices related to water conservation and nature preservation within these communities. Referring to the National Education Policy, Bagde pointed out its emphasis on modernizing local resources under the concepts of 'Local to Global' and 'Self-Reliant India.'

He called upon educators to promote a type of education that enables students to recognize their potential and develop the ability to become self-reliant. The event also saw the participation of Vasudev Devnani, the Speaker of the Rajasthan Assembly, who joined online.
