Rajasthan Government Announces Free Electricity Initiative for Low-Income Families
Rajasthan's New Electricity Scheme
The Rajasthan government, led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, has made a significant announcement regarding electricity provision. Reports indicate that under the Chief Minister Free Electricity Scheme, families will receive 150 units of free electricity monthly through solar installations, as part of the Prime Minister Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme. This was disclosed during a review meeting held at the Chief Minister's residence, focusing on the Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Ajmer Electricity Distribution Corporations.
During the meeting, CM Bhajan Lal emphasized the installation of community solar plants in residences of low-income families lacking adequate space for individual solar setups. He urged for the swift execution of this initiative and instructed the electricity distribution companies (Discoms) to expedite the issuance of pending domestic and non-domestic connections.
Furthermore, he highlighted the need to prioritize the resolution of pending agricultural connections, directing Discom officials to provide daily updates to the Chief Minister's office regarding these connections. The review also covered the status of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) connections, the construction of 33 and 11 KV grid substations, and the replacement of defective transformers. CM Bhajan Lal noted that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Maha Abhiyan (PM Kusum) components A and C are expected to significantly contribute to the state's energy self-sufficiency.
