Rajasthan CM Celebrates Army Day, Highlights Military Valor and Community Bonding
Significance of Army Day in Rajasthan
On Saturday, Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that Army Day is a celebration of India's glorious history, pride, and self-respect, offering a moment to honor the unparalleled bravery, strict discipline, immense sacrifices, and unwavering patriotism of the armed forces.
He expressed pride in Jaipur hosting the 78th Army Day parade in 2026, addressing the joint curtain raiser event for the parade.
Sharma noted that the Army Day parade will take place outside the military cantonment, on Mahal Road in Jagatpura, allowing the general public to participate.
This event is expected to strengthen the bond of trust, engagement, and respect between the Indian Army and the citizens.
The parade will feature a fly-past by fighter jets and helicopters, showcasing drone technology and modern warfare capabilities. The Chief Minister remarked that since 1947-48, through the wars of 1965 and 1971, and the Kargil conflict in 1999, the Indian Army has faced every challenge with courage and determination.
Honoring Valor and Sacrifice
He highlighted that Rajasthan is a land of valor, with tales of bravery and sacrifice embedded in every corner. During the event, Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Commander of the Sapta Shakti Command, acknowledged that the Indian Army has defended the nation's borders with indomitable courage, from mountains to deserts.
He also mentioned the Army's role in ensuring internal security by combating terrorism and Naxalism. Furthermore, the Army has always been ready to assist citizens during natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and storms.
The Chief Minister took this opportunity to honor the families of the late Naik Megh Raj Singh, who was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, and Havildar Ram Singh Shekhawat and Lance Naik Banshidhar Yadav, both posthumously awarded the Sena Medal. He also recognized retired Brigadier Jeevan Rajpurohit, Subedar Arjun Singh Rathore, and Havildar Madan Singh Kajla for their service.
