Rajasthan Chief Minister Calls for Strong Action Against Crime
Reviewing Law and Order in Rajasthan
In Jaipur, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized the need for decisive measures against criminals during a law and order review meeting on Monday. He stated that actions must be taken that instill fear in wrongdoers. The responsibility for crimes occurring in the region will now fall directly on the respective IG and SP. He firmly instructed the Home Department and police officials that crime will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reprimanded several district police chiefs, asserting that merely arresting individuals involved in organized crime, cybercrime, and drug trafficking is insufficient; the entire network of these crimes must be dismantled. Following his directives, a senior officer received a notice regarding encroachment on grazing land in Gogunda. He also sought explanations from relevant officials concerning recent criminal incidents in Alwar, Sri Ganganagar, and Bharatpur.
The Chief Minister insisted that actions against criminals and their masterminds should be so impactful that potential offenders think twice before committing a crime. He noted that despite achieving consistent results, any unpleasant incident could tarnish the image of both the police and the state. He reported a decrease in organized crime and shooting incidents compared to 2023, but stressed that this downward trend must accelerate.
To combat the supply chain of illegal weapons, he called for special operations, stating that illegal arms are the backbone of organized crime. In districts where cases under the Arms Act have increased, targeted campaigns should be launched to disrupt the supply chain. When weapons are seized, actions should not only focus on the immediate criminal but also aim to trace back to the entire network, including the ringleaders.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of dismantling the social and financial networks of criminals. He urged for close monitoring of social media to identify youths who follow criminals, and to curb land mafia activities and hawala transactions to cut off the income sources of offenders. Additionally, he called for expedited actions to seize, confiscate, and demolish the illegal properties of drug traffickers.
To prevent cyber fraud, he directed an increase in cyber patrolling and the deployment of specialized personnel in the cyber cell. He emphasized that it is the police's responsibility to act swiftly in cases of digital arrests and online scams to restore public trust. The Chief Minister insisted that no cyber fraud network should survive in Rajasthan.
Addressing crimes against women and children, the Chief Minister described such heinous acts as extremely serious and instructed for prompt and stringent actions in these cases. He stressed the need for sensitivity and readiness at all levels to ensure swift justice for victims and severe punishment for offenders.
He instructed all range IGs and police superintendents to personally analyze pending cases related to NDPS, gangsters, history-sheeters, and illegal arms, ensuring timely resolutions. He made it clear that in districts where expected results are not achieved, accountability will be enforced on the respective officials.
Regular meetings of the Community Liaison Group (CLG) should be held in all districts, the Chief Minister directed. This will enhance communication and coordination between the police and the public, thereby strengthening law and order. He also mandated regular monitoring of CLG meetings at headquarters to ensure timely action on suggestions and complaints received.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, senior officials from the Chief Minister's office, Home Department, and Police Department. Additionally, the range IGs and police superintendents from all districts participated via video conference.
