Raj Thackeray Reflects on BMC Election Results

On Saturday, Raj Thackeray, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), admitted that the party did not meet expectations in the recent Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. He emphasized the ongoing struggle for the Marathi community.

In a post shared on the social media platform 'X', Thackeray characterized the BMC elections as a contest between 'Shiv Shakti' and 'Dhan Shakti', urging party workers not to be disheartened by the results.

After a 20-year hiatus, Thackeray had allied with his cousin Uddhav Thackeray, the president of Shiv Sena (UBT), for the BMC elections. Together, they positioned themselves as defenders of Marathi identity in their bid to win the wealthiest municipal body in the country.

Commenting on the election outcomes, Thackeray praised the efforts of both Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS workers. Shiv Sena (UBT) secured 65 seats in the 227-member BMC, while MNS managed to win only six.

In his post, Thackeray commended the dedication of the workers from both parties, acknowledging that the battle was not an easy one. He stated, 'This contest was between Shiv Shakti and Dhan Shakti. Nevertheless, our party workers fought valiantly.' Despite the unfavorable results, he encouraged his team to continue their efforts.
