Match Overview

In a dramatic turn of events, an unexpected rain shower at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium prevented the Delhi Capitals from suffering a disappointing defeat against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Despite the Capitals struggling, the rain ultimately led to both teams sharing the points, knocking SRH out of contention for the IPL 2025 playoffs.

The Delhi Capitals faced a significant setback in their latest match, finishing with a score of 133/7 after their 20 overs. Although they started strong, their batting lineup crumbled under pressure. Karun Nair, who had previously shown promise, was dismissed for a duck by Pat Cummins in the first over, putting the team in a precarious position. Following him, Faf du Plessis managed only 3 runs before also falling to Cummins, marking a rare slump for the Capitals.

Abishek Porel's innings was short-lived, as he was caught by Ishan Kishan after scoring just 8 runs.

KL Rahul, a key player for the team, succumbed to the mounting pressure, scoring only 10 runs before being dismissed by Jaydev Unadkat. This unexpected inconsistency from Rahul, known for his reliable batting, added to the Capitals' struggles. Axar Patel's innings was cut short when he was caught off a Patel delivery, and soon after, Vipraj Nigam was run out due to a miscommunication between the batsmen.

Ashutosh Sharma provided a glimmer of hope with a top score of 41, but with wickets falling at regular intervals, the Capitals could not recover. Tristan Stubbs contributed with an unbeaten 41, but it was insufficient to set a competitive target, leaving the team with a daunting challenge in the field.

In addition to Cummins' impressive performance, Jaydev Unadkat took 1 wicket for just 13 runs, dismissing Rahul. Harshal Patel and Eshan Malinga also contributed with 1 wicket each, while Zeeshan Ansari went wicketless, conceding 30 runs in 3 overs. Abhishek Sharma was economical, finishing with figures of 1/5 from his single over.
