Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), August 7 - Ajay Rai, the president of the Congress party's Uttar Pradesh unit, announced on Friday that all necessary permissions for Rahul Gandhi's 'Students' Echo' event in Prayagraj have been secured. He expressed confidence that a record number of attendees would participate in the event. Gandhi shared on 'X', 'I am coming to Prayagraj - the city where the most youth prepare for their future.'

He emphasized, 'It is clear that every student here understands that the system has become corrupt. Your hard work is not lacking; the issue lies with the system's integrity, which fails to reward your efforts.' He further noted, 'With paper leaks, stalled recruitments, years of waiting, and no accountability, students in Kota spoke out, voices were raised in Dehradun, and in Delhi, these students faced police brutality just for asking questions.'

He concluded, 'This government only bends when voices unite. I am coming to discuss this in Prayagraj tomorrow. Join me.' The event is scheduled for August 8 at 5 PM at K.P. Ground, Prayagraj.

Preparations for the Event

Earlier, Rai informed a news agency that they have received the green light for the event, stating, 'There are no more obstacles.' He mentioned that the party is fully prepared to ensure a successful dialogue between students and Rahul Gandhi. To raise awareness about the Saturday event, the Congress plans to hold a motorcycle rally in Prayagraj on Friday evening.

Ajay Rai has been in Prayagraj for several days in preparation for Gandhi's event. He expressed optimism that, barring any issues, a record number of students would attend.

Conditions for the Event

The Kayastha Pathshala (KP) Trust granted conditional approval for Rahul Gandhi's 'Students' Echo' event late Thursday night. Jitendra Nath Chaudhary, the acting president of the trust, stated that the organizers were given permission after consulting with high court lawyers, with conditions including that college teaching activities should not be disrupted and that permission from the district magistrate is required.

Additionally, the Assistant Police Commissioner/Executive Magistrate of Kargilganj has also granted permission. According to the permission letter, the police have allowed the event at K.P. Ground in the Georgetown area from 4 PM to 9 PM on Saturday, with certain stipulations. The letter identifies Ajay Rai as the organizer of the student dialogue program.

Regulations and Responsibilities

The approval letter outlines that organizers must adhere to noise regulations, maintain law and order, deploy sufficient volunteers for crowd and traffic control, ensure proper parking arrangements, and prevent any obstruction on public roads. The police clarified that the organizers would be held responsible for any stampede, damage to public or private property, or any unpleasant incidents during the event.

Participants are prohibited from carrying weapons, consuming alcohol or drugs, and making offensive, inflammatory, or derogatory remarks against any political or non-political organization, religion, caste, or community. Compliance with police and administrative directives, the provisions of the Indian Civil Safety Code Section 163, and all court orders and government guidelines is mandatory. The police warned that any violation of these conditions or disruption of public order would result in immediate revocation of the permission.

Previous Challenges

Previously, the KP Trust had canceled the permission for Rahul Gandhi's event scheduled for August 8. Jitendra Nath Chaudhary had stated, 'The Allahabad High Court issued an order on August 14, 2025, prohibiting the use of KP College grounds for any activities other than sports and educational purposes.' He also mentioned that rainwater had accumulated in the ground, making the event potentially hazardous. Chaudhary noted that the Congress was granted permission on the condition that they would obtain the district magistrate's approval for the event, which had not yet been secured.

Ajay Rai released the schedule for the opposition leader's visit to Prayagraj, indicating that Rahul Gandhi would depart from Delhi to Prayagraj at 2 PM on August 8 via a special flight.

According to the schedule released by Rai, Rahul Gandhi will travel by road from Prayagraj Airport to Anand Bhawan and will hold the party's dialogue program 'Students' Echo' at K.P. Ground from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
