The trust responsible for hosting the 'Students' Voice' event in Prayagraj has revoked its permission, prompting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to assert on Thursday that no matter how hard the BJP government tries, it cannot silence the voices of students. This statement from the opposition leader came after the Kayastha Pathshala Trust cited an order from the Allahabad High Court to cancel the event, which was scheduled for August 8 at KP Ground. The trust also mentioned waterlogging at the venue as a reason for the cancellation.

Rahul Gandhi's Response to the Cancellation

On social media, Rahul expressed that students at Allahabad University are fighting against fee hikes and seat reductions for their future. Instead of listening to their concerns, the administration is filing FIRs against them. He criticized the Modi government's approach, stating that it aims to suppress the voices of the youth. He remarked that whenever he attempts to engage with students, the administration has been trying to obstruct his efforts in every possible way, indicating their fear of student dissent. He affirmed his solidarity with the students, emphasizing that the government cannot prevent him from advocating for their voices.

Congress Leadership's Assurance

In light of the cancellation of the event at KP Ground, Ajay Rai, the state Congress president, confirmed that Rahul Gandhi will still visit Prayagraj on August 8 to interact with students. Speaking to reporters in Prayagraj, Rai highlighted the city's historical significance as a hub for competitive students seeking their futures. He reiterated that Rahul Gandhi will engage with the youth despite the challenges posed by the administration.

Call for Alternative Venue

Rai urged the government and administration to provide an alternative venue for the event, emphasizing the importance of dialogue between Rahul Gandhi and the students. He pointed out that the receipt for the venue clearly indicates that it is used for sports activities, and since the college will be closed on Saturday, the following day is Sunday. He accused the government of being intimidated by Rahul Gandhi, drawing parallels to previous events in Kota and Dehradun that were also canceled.
