Rahul Gandhi's Compassionate Gesture: Aiding an Injured Autorickshaw Driver Before Major Protest

A Heartfelt Encounter in New Delhi

New Delhi: On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, took a moment to assist an injured autorickshaw driver he encountered while departing for Bhopal. Upon noticing the driver in distress, the Congress MP halted his convoy, exited his vehicle, and offered his support.

Rahul Gandhi also directed his aides to ensure that the driver received the necessary medical attention.

In a conversation with a news agency, the injured driver recounted, "Rahul Gandhi inquired about my injuries, and I explained the situation. He advised me to visit the hospital for treatment."

In addition to this compassionate act, both Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge are set to participate in a significant protest in Bhopal against the interim India-US trade agreement, which they claim adversely affects Indian farmers by allowing cheaper imports from the US.

Jitu Patwari, the President of Madhya Pradesh Congress, confirmed the visit, stating, "On February 24, 2026, in Bhopal, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will advocate for farmers' rights against the injustices stemming from the India-US trade deal."

Patwari criticized the government for succumbing to US influence, asserting that the agreement has already led to a decline in prices for essential crops such as soybean, cotton, and maize.

He characterized the deal as a "compromise deal" forced upon farmers, emphasizing that it directly impacts soybean, maize, and cotton farmers in Madhya Pradesh and their families.

The upcoming event on February 24 is intended to showcase the party's dedication to advocating for farmers across the nation. The protest will take the form of a Kisan Sammelan (farmers' convention) in Bhopal, aimed at mobilizing support in key states including Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Bihar.

Madhya Pradesh Congress media in-charge and former minister Mukesh Nayak provided further details about the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ scheduled to take place at Atal Path in Jawahar Chowk, anticipating participation from over one lakh farmers statewide.

Nayak mentioned that the program is set to commence around 2 PM with the arrival of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in Bhopal. He also noted that two large domes have been erected at the venue, featuring a grand stage where approximately 250 leaders and party officials are expected to be seated.
