Rahul Gandhi's Visit to Indore

Indore: On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, arrived in Indore to connect with families and patients impacted by a recent outbreak of vomiting and diarrhea attributed to contaminated water in the Bhagirathpura locality of Madhya Pradesh.

He was greeted at Indore Airport by several prominent Congress figures, including Jitu Patwari, the state Congress president, Umang Singhar, the Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, and ex-minister Sajjan Singh Verma.

Following a formal gathering with state Congress leaders and party workers at Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport, Gandhi proceeded to Bombay Hospital, where around a dozen individuals affected by the tainted water are currently receiving treatment.

"Rahul Gandhi will visit Bombay Hospital and subsequently meet with the families of the victims, extending his condolences to those who have lost loved ones due to the outbreak in Bhagirathpura," stated PCC chief Jitu Patwari.

In a contrasting move, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited the site of the Union Carbide factory linked to the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy on the same day, announcing that his administration has successfully removed and disposed of 337 metric tonnes of hazardous waste from the notorious location.

Yadav took the opportunity to criticize Gandhi, asserting that the Bhopal gas tragedy occurred under Congress rule, resulting in numerous fatalities. He accused Congress leaders of exploiting the tragedy for political gain in Indore.

During an event in Narmadapuram district on Friday, Yadav remarked, "Thousands perished in the Bhopal gas tragedy (December 3, 1984), which took place during the Congress government."

He further alleged that the then Chief Minister, the late Arjun Singh, had facilitated the escape of Warren Anderson, the CEO of Union Carbide Corporation, under the directives of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
