Rahul Gandhi Slams PM Modi's Call for Public Sacrifices Amid West Asia Crisis
Gandhi Critiques Modi's Leadership
New Delhi: On Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent comments urging citizens to take personal measures in response to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Gandhi labeled Modi as a 'compromised PM' who is unfit to govern the nation.
The Opposition leader expressed that Modi's statements reflect a significant failure in leadership. He pointed out that the Prime Minister's advice, which included suggestions like refraining from purchasing gold, limiting foreign travel, and reducing fuel consumption, is not guidance but rather an indication of governmental shortcomings.
Gandhi remarked that after 12 years of Modi's administration, the public is now being instructed on their purchasing decisions and travel plans, highlighting a shift of responsibility from the government to the citizens.
He reiterated that the Prime Minister's inability to manage the country effectively is evident.
The Congress party also condemned Modi's call for prudent use of petroleum products, asserting that he lacks a coherent strategy for India's energy security, especially in light of the ongoing US-Iran conflict.
They described Modi's approach as 'shameless and reckless,' accusing him of pushing citizens into hardship instead of devising plans to protect the economy from global disruptions.
In response to the crisis, Modi emphasized the importance of conserving resources, suggesting that citizens postpone gold purchases and foreign travel to bolster the economy.
During a rally in Hyderabad, he encouraged reduced fuel consumption, the use of metro services, carpooling, and increased reliance on electric vehicles to mitigate the economic impact of the West Asia situation.
Modi stressed the necessity of saving foreign exchange, citing rising prices for petrol and fertilizers due to the conflict. He acknowledged the challenges posed by supply chain pressures and urged the public to adopt work-from-home practices and other cost-saving measures.
He also advocated for a decrease in edible oil consumption and a shift towards natural farming and local products to enhance self-reliance.
