Rahul Gandhi Raises Concerns Over Maharashtra Elections Amid Allegations of Fraud

In response to Rahul Gandhi's tweet regarding the Maharashtra and Bihar elections, Congress leader Pawan Khera expressed his views. Khera stated that Gandhi's inquiries are directed at the Election Commission of India, questioning why the BJP is responding to them. He emphasized that their questions are quite straightforward: from 2019 to 2024, Maharashtra saw an addition of 3.1 million new voters. How could there be 4.1 million new voters added in just five months?

 

Khera pointed out that the preliminary voting percentage reported at 5 PM was 58.22%, while the final turnout was 66%. He questioned how an 8% increase could occur. Furthermore, he noted that they were not provided with videography, raising doubts about how new voters could emerge from the same 12,000 booths where the BJP lost in the Lok Sabha elections but won in the assembly elections. He also questioned the removal of the Chief Justice from the committee responsible for selecting the Chief Election Commissioner.

 

On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi accused the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections of being a 'blueprint for fraud in democracy.' He claimed that this 'match-fixing' would also be replicated in Bihar and in other regions where the BJP is facing defeat. He stressed that rigged elections are toxic to democracy, asserting that even if a fraudulent party wins, it undermines democratic institutions and erodes public trust in the outcomes. Gandhi elaborated on alleged irregularities in the elections through a series of posts on the social media platform 'X,' detailing how fake voters were added to the electoral rolls, inflated voting percentages were reported, and evidence was concealed.

 

Gandhi shared images of articles published in 'Dainik Jagran' and 'The Indian Express,' stating, 'The entire scheme of election theft! The 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections were a blueprint for fraud in democracy.' He outlined the steps of the alleged conspiracy: Step 1: Seizing control of the committee that appoints the Election Commission. Step 2: Adding fake voters to the list. Step 3: Inflating the reported voting percentage. Step 4: Conducting targeted fraudulent voting where the BJP needed to win. Step 5: Concealing the evidence.
