Rahul Gandhi Raises Alarm Over Waqf Bill's Impact on Minority Communities

New Delhi: On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, expressed serious concerns regarding the Waqf Bill, claiming it poses a threat to Muslims and could set a dangerous precedent for future targeting of other communities.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, Gandhi referenced an article suggesting that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has redirected its focus towards land owned by the Catholic Church following the Waqf Bill's approval.

"I previously warned that the Waqf Bill primarily targets Muslims, but it also paves the way for future discrimination against other groups," he stated on X.

He further noted, "It didn't take long for the RSS to shift its focus to Christians," alluding to the article's claims.

Gandhi emphasized the importance of the Constitution as a protective measure against such threats, stating, "It is our collective responsibility to safeguard it."

Additionally, Congress leader KC Venugopal shared another article highlighting that the Catholic Church has surpassed the Waqf Board in land ownership, remarking, "As anticipated, the first minority was targeted, and now the next is in line."
