Launch of Relief Plan for Landslide Victims

On Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi unveiled a significant relief initiative aimed at assisting victims of the devastating landslide that occurred in 2024. He laid the foundation for the construction of 100 homes as part of this effort.

New Homes to Be Built

The homes being constructed by Congress will each cover an area of 1,100 square feet, with 8 cents of land allocated for each house. Rahul Gandhi, who serves as the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, reassured affected families that his entire family stands firmly with those who have lost everything in this tragedy.

Praise for the Resilience of Victims

Rahul Gandhi commended the courage of the victims, stating, 'You have lost so much, yet you have not lost your spirit or compassion for others.' He acknowledged the delays in the construction process, attributing them to land permissions and paperwork, but assured that the work would be completed soon. He described this initiative as a message of love and solidarity for the victims.

Emotional Message from Priyanka Gandhi

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed her empathy for the victims, sharing that she has witnessed the struggles of those who lost their loved ones and farmland. She mentioned that all Congress MPs had met with the Home Minister to request the declaration of this incident as a 'national disaster' and had also written to the Prime Minister.

Although Priyanka was not an MP at the time of the disaster, she emphasized her role as a daughter and sister to the people of the region. She also expressed her happiness that all political parties have come together to assist in the rehabilitation efforts.

Distribution of Financial Aid

During the event, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi distributed financial assistance of 5 lakh rupees each to 40 shopkeepers whose businesses were destroyed in the landslide. Several senior leaders from Congress and the UDF were also present at this occasion.
