A Heartfelt Tribute to Rajiv Gandhi

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, paid a touching tribute to his father, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, on the occasion of his 35th death anniversary. Alongside a childhood photograph, Rahul shared a heartfelt message stating, 'Dad, I will fully embrace the responsibility of realizing the skilled, prosperous, and empowered India you envisioned. Your teachings, values, and memories will always be with me.'


 


In his post, Rahul included two images, one depicting a tender moment from his childhood with Rajiv Gandhi, reflecting the emotional depth of the tribute. This message coincided with a nationwide remembrance by Congress leaders honoring Rajiv Gandhi on his martyrdom day, with tributes being paid at his memorial, Veer Bhumi, in the national capital.


 


This morning, Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, along with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, visited Veer Bhumi to pay their respects. Priyanka's children, Miraya and Raihan Vadra, were also present at the tribute ceremony. Several senior Congress leaders, including Ashok Gehlot, P. Chidambaram, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and Mukul Wasnik, also paid their respects.


 


Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to the former Prime Minister with a brief message. PM Modi wrote, 'Tributes to former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji on his death anniversary.' Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge described Rajiv Gandhi as a remarkable son of India and highlighted various reforms initiated during his tenure as Prime Minister.
