Rahul Gandhi Faces Legal Notice Over Controversial Remarks Against Indian State

Legal Action Against Rahul Gandhi
In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, a local court has issued a notice to Rahul Gandhi, the opposition leader in the Lok Sabha, regarding his recent comments about 'fighting the Indian state.' This notice was prompted by a complaint from Simran Gupta, the national president of Hindu Shakti Dal.
During the inauguration of the Congress party's new headquarters in Delhi on January 15, Gandhi claimed that the BJP and RSS had taken control of all national institutions, stating, 'We are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian state itself.'
Gupta expressed to the media that Gandhi's remarks were disrespectful to the citizens and the democratic framework of India. He emphasized that the statement offended many across the nation.
After initially approaching local authorities without any action, Gupta decided to file a case in court on January 23. The court had previously scheduled a hearing for April 4, which was later postponed to May 7 for Gandhi to respond.
Due to the absence of Gandhi's legal counsel on Wednesday, a junior attorney requested a new hearing date, which the court granted, setting June 16 as the next date for proceedings.
