Rahul Gandhi's Strong Critique of Bihar's Governance

Patna: Rahul Gandhi, a prominent figure in the Congress party, has sharply criticized the Nitish Kumar-led NDA administration, labeling Bihar as the ‘crime capital of India’.

His remarks came in response to the recent murder of Gopal Khemka, a well-known businessman in Patna.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, Gandhi expressed, “The shocking murder of Gopal Khemka in Patna has once again highlighted how the BJP and Nitish Kumar have transformed Bihar into India’s crime capital.”

He emphasized that the state is engulfed in an atmosphere of theft, violence, and murder, asserting that such occurrences have become the ‘new normal’ under the current regime.

Gandhi further stated, “Today, Bihar is overshadowed by crime and violence. Such incidents have become commonplace, and the government has utterly failed. The people of Bihar must not tolerate this injustice any longer. A government that cannot safeguard your children cannot be trusted with your future.”

He characterized each crime as a ‘call for change’ and urged the citizens of Bihar to seek a new direction in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

“It’s time for a new Bihar, one that fosters progress instead of fear. This election is not merely about changing the government; it’s about saving Bihar,” Gandhi asserted.

The murder of Gopal Khemka occurred around 11:40 p.m. on Friday near Gandhi Maidan, alarmingly close to both the local police station and the District Magistrate’s residence, raising significant concerns regarding security in high-risk areas.

In the wake of this incident, opposition figures such as Tejashwi Yadav and Prashant Kishor have condemned the Nitish administration for its inability to uphold law and order in the state.

Even members of the ruling NDA, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with LJP (RV) MP Rajesh Verma, have acknowledged that there were failures in handling this situation.

This incident has sparked a heated political discourse in Bihar as the 2025 Assembly elections approach, placing law and order at the center of the state's political discussions.
