Rahul Gandhi Criticizes PM Modi Over Allegations of Surrendering to Pressure
Rahul Gandhi's Sharp Critique of PM Modi
On Wednesday, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi launched a fierce attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of 'surrendering' under pressure. This statement came a day after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed during a House GOP retreat that PM Modi had requested a meeting with him.
In light of Trump's recent remarks about Modi, Gandhi quipped, 'Understand the difference, sir.' The Congress leader shared a clip from a speech he delivered last June during the party's 'Organization Creation Campaign,' where he asserted that Modi had bowed to Trump’s influence, stating, 'Narendra, surrender.'
Congress's Stance on Pressure from Global Powers
In that speech, Gandhi emphasized that neither Congress nor its leaders have ever 'surrendered' to global powers, contrasting this with what he described as the BJP and RSS's tendency to yield under slight pressure. He posted a video of his speech on social media, reiterating, 'Understand the difference, sir.'
Trump has made several comments recently regarding the 50% tariffs imposed on India, which have reportedly made the government uncomfortable. So far, there has been no official response from the government regarding these remarks.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also took a jab at PM Modi in relation to Trump's comments, sharing a video of Trump's statement on social media with the caption, 'From Namaste Trump to Howdy Modi, 'Brother Donald' and now this (sir). What’s next?' Trump noted that Modi was 'not very happy' with the tariffs imposed by the U.S. on Russian oil purchases.
