Rahul Gandhi's Strong Condemnation of BJP's Remarks
On Saturday, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi launched a fierce critique against the BJP, accusing the party of a distorted mindset following derogatory comments made by the Gujarat president about Congress MP Jeniben Thakor. In a post on Twitter, Gandhi asserted that this incident has exposed the ruling party's much-touted 'Nari Vandana' slogan, revealing their anti-women ideology.
Gandhi questioned the sincerity of the BJP's attempts to engage with women, suggesting that their respect is conditional and vanishes the moment a woman challenges their authority. He stated that the facade of 'Nari Vandana' has been stripped away, showcasing not only a shameful reality but also the true face of the BJP's feminist ideology. Women who dare to challenge their power are intolerable to them. Comparing this to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's previous statements, Gandhi reminded him of his remarks regarding women's dignity and memory.
Specifically referencing Modi's words that a woman may forget everything but never her humiliation, Gandhi accused the BJP of forgetting this sentiment themselves, claiming that the Prime Minister fled Parliament to avoid tough questions from female Congress MPs. In concluding his statement, he issued a stern warning about the electoral and social repercussions of such behavior. He emphasized that voters will not forget the disrespect shown to Jeniben Thakor, a prominent leader who won her seat despite the BJP's dominance in Gujarat.
He cautioned that the anti-women stance of the BJP should be mindful that women in Gujarat, as well as across India, will respond fiercely to every insult. The controversial remarks against Jeniben Thakor were made by BJP state president Jagdish Vishwakarma during a Vijay Vishwas conference held in Chhadotar, Palanpur.
