Rahul Gandhi's Strong Remarks in Assam

While campaigning for Congress in Assam, Rahul Gandhi launched a fierce attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, labeling him as the most corrupt CM in the country. He asserted that if Congress forms the government, Sarma will be left with no choice but to stand with folded hands, yet he will face consequences for his actions. Gandhi mockingly suggested that Sarma is under the control of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming that if they instructed him to jump, he would comply without hesitation.

Gandhi reiterated that should Congress come to power, the governance of Assam would be centralized in Guwahati, and Article 244(A) would be implemented in the state.

Allegations Against the Current Government

He accused Modi, Shah, and Sarma of exploiting Assam as their personal ATM, stating that Sarma readily allocates land to Adani without consulting the local populace. Congress is making a significant effort in this election, with both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi working tirelessly to unseat Sarma.

In his remarks, Gandhi emphasized, 'The entire nation knows that Himanta Biswa Sarma is the most corrupt Chief Minister. He is running Assam in collusion with the syndicate. Once Congress takes over, Sarma will be left with no option but to stand with folded hands. He will face the consequences of his corruption. Sarma is aware that Congress will not abandon him. The day the BJP government falls, his arrogance will shatter. There is no need to fear such cowardly individuals.'

A Commitment to Article 244(A)

Addressing a rally in Assam, Gandhi remarked, 'Assam is a bouquet of flowers, home to people of various religions, castes, and ideologies. Congress believes in empowering the people of India, ensuring that every community has a role in governance. In contrast, the BJP's ideology is to govern Assam from Delhi—this is the battle at hand. Congress introduced Article 244(A) because we believe that Assam should not be governed from Guwahati or Delhi. This article empowers the people of Assam, granting them the authority to make decisions. This is the fundamental difference between Congress and the BJP.'
