Rahul Gandhi Criticizes AIADMK for Alleged Corruption and BJP Ties

In a recent rally, Rahul Gandhi accused the AIADMK of succumbing to the BJP due to corruption, claiming the party now facilitates BJP's entry into Tamil Nadu. He stressed the need for state autonomy and criticized the BJP's attempts to centralize power. Gandhi also highlighted concerns over a constitutional amendment that he believes undermines representation for southern and northeastern states. His remarks reflect a broader commitment to preserving Tamil culture and governance by its people, while warning against any legislative changes that threaten the integrity of the Indian Union.

Gandhi's Accusations Against AIADMK and BJP

On Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the AIADMK leadership of surrendering to the BJP due to corruption, asserting that the regional party is now serving as a conduit for the BJP's influence in Tamil Nadu. Speaking at an election rally in Kanyakumari, Gandhi claimed that the RSS, which harbors animosity towards Dravidian ideology, is also plotting to govern Tamil Nadu.

Gandhi emphasized the importance of each state maintaining its voice and autonomy. The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha stated that the people of each state should manage their own governance. However, he criticized the BJP for its belief in a singular tradition, language, and history. He further argued that governance in Tamil Nadu should align with the principles of decentralized administration, led by its own people.

Additionally, Gandhi alleged that former U.S. President Donald Trump attempted to influence Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, in turn, sought to control Tamil Nadu through AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami. The Congress leader asserted that the DMK-Congress alliance is dedicated to preserving Tamil language, culture, and history. He also targeted the BJP regarding the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill, which he claimed was aimed at reducing representation from southern and northeastern India, labeling it an attack on the concept of the Indian Union.

He remarked that just days ago, the BJP had attacked the Constitution in Parliament. They claimed to have passed a women's reservation bill, but their true intention was to alter the electoral landscape; they are attempting to diminish representation from southern and northeastern India... They are assaulting the idea of the Indian Union, which is why we defeated them. Any such attempts will repeatedly fail.
