On Friday, outside Parliament, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his frustration towards journalists. The media was inquiring about a press conference held by families of Delhi police officers injured during protests against the NEET paper leak at Jantar Mantar. When approached for comments regarding the press conference, Gandhi countered with a question about the journalists' affiliations, specifically asking if they were from the BJP. This inquiry came in light of reports detailing the violence faced by police officers during the student protests.

Family members of the injured officers shared that many police personnel were hurt during the protests, yet their plight seemed to garner little public attention. During the press conference in New Delhi, they presented videos allegedly showing protesters attacking police officers, while also claiming that anti-social elements infiltrated the demonstration.

Calls for Justice for Injured Officers

Demanding justice for the injured police officers, family members revealed that several officials sustained serious injuries and are still undergoing treatment. Relatives of two Delhi police officers injured during the student protests recounted the violence their loved ones faced while on duty, alleging that a violent mob attacked them.

A daughter of a Delhi police sub-inspector, who is also a student at Delhi University, recounted a near-lynching incident involving her father while he was trying to maintain order near the barricades. She described how he suffered severe injuries, lost consciousness, and was later brought home in a blood-soaked uniform, leaving the family in shock. Reflecting on the incident from July 25, she stated that her father was dragged by a rioting crowd and nearly lynched near the stage at Jantar Mantar around 2 PM. He remained unconscious at RML Hospital for nearly four hours.
