Rahul Gandhi's Court Appearance

On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, arrived at the MP-MLA court in Lucknow to address a defamation lawsuit concerning his remarks about the Indian Army.

Ajay Rai, the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, stated, “Rahul Gandhi is in Lucknow today for his court appearance and will head back to Delhi afterward.” Earlier, Gandhi had described the tragic death of a 20-year-old student from Balasore as an “organized murder by the BJP’s system,” criticizing the party for its failure to safeguard the victim.

Gandhi claimed that the student, who tragically set herself ablaze after enduring sexual harassment, faced continuous threats and humiliation instead of receiving the justice she deserved. In a post on X, he expressed, “The death of a daughter seeking justice in Odisha is tantamount to murder by the BJP’s system. That courageous student spoke out against sexual harassment, yet instead of justice, she was met with threats and torment. Those meant to protect her only caused her further pain.” He urged Prime Minister Modi to speak out and ensure safety and justice for women in India.

“As always, the BJP’s system protected the accused, leading an innocent daughter to take such a drastic step. This is not a case of suicide; it is an organized murder by the system. Modi ji, whether in Odisha or Manipur, the daughters of our nation are suffering and dying. Your silence is unacceptable; the country demands answers. The daughters of India require safety and justice,” his post continued. Following the student’s death, Congress workers protested outside AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where the student was pronounced dead after her self-immolation attempt. Police intervened and detained several protestors. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhubaneswar confirmed the death of the 20-year-old student from Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Balasore, Odisha.
