Rahul Gandhi's Light-hearted Remarks in Parliament
During the ongoing special session of Parliament on Friday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, engaged in a lively discussion amidst intense debates. This session has been convened to deliberate and vote on three bills aimed at ensuring the swift implementation of women's reservation in assemblies by 2029. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, the Congress MP acknowledged the significant influence women have in nearly everyone's lives, whether as mothers, sisters, or wives.

In his opening remarks, Gandhi emphasized that women are a central force, serving as an inspiring power in our national imagination and perspective. He noted that everyone has been greatly influenced by women in their lives, learning much from their mothers, sisters, and wives. He also referenced a comment made by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who mentioned that neither he nor the Prime Minister has a wife, which limits their perspective. However, Gandhi pointed out that they do have mothers and sisters.

Before the Leader of the Opposition spoke, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister humorously remarked that the Law Minister (Arjun Ram Meghwal) had recited a poem dedicated to his wife in the House, which led to him facing significant reprimand at home. Gandhi also referenced a speech by his sister, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, from Thursday, noting that she managed to make Home Minister Amit Shah smile, something he himself had not achieved in 20 years.
