Rahul Gandhi's Insights on Electric Mobility

During a speech in Thiruvananthapuram at the Technopark, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, emphasized the shift towards electric motors in military and combat equipment, a sector where China currently holds a significant advantage. He asserted that with the right policies and vision, India could compete with China in the electric mobility arena.

Referencing the ongoing conflicts in Russia-Ukraine and Iran, Gandhi pointed out that drones are replacing internal combustion engines on the battlefield. He noted that in Iran, the military sector is increasingly adopting battery optics and electric motors, highlighting China's dominance in these technologies. He expressed concern over this situation, stating that India is uniquely positioned to drive this change and can rival China in electric mobility with appropriate strategies.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi engaged with tea plantation workers in Kuttikkanam, Idukki district, and visited the Samadhi of Sri Narayana Guru at the Shivagiri Ashram in Varkala.

On Friday, during a discussion with students at Marian College in Idukki, he addressed the ongoing debate surrounding "The Kerala Story 2," criticizing the use of cinema and media for political propaganda. He remarked that these mediums are increasingly being weaponized to defame communities and foster social divisions.

Sharing a video of his interaction with students, he wrote, "The true story of Kerala is one of compassion, unity, and mutual support. Cinema and media should serve to unite people, not to divide society or tarnish communities." Gandhi's visit to Kerala comes ahead of the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, where the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) aims to prevent the Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, from securing a third consecutive term. The assembly elections in Kerala are scheduled for later this year.
