Gandhi's Commitment to CAPF Personnel

On Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed that if his party comes to power, they will abolish the "discriminatory system" that denies leadership opportunities to personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). He emphasized the need to ensure that these individuals receive their rightful rights and privileges. Speaking at the valor day event of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Gandhi acknowledged the immense respect he and the Congress party hold for CAPF members.

In a post written in Hindi, Gandhi extended heartfelt congratulations and tributes to the brave soldiers of the CRPF on their valor day. He highlighted that their courage and sacrifices play a crucial role in safeguarding the nation daily. By being stationed at borders, they protect the country, confront threats from terrorism and Maoism, and ensure that the largest festival of democracy—our elections—remains peaceful and secure.

However, he pointed out that true tribute cannot be paid merely through words. Despite years of sacrifice and dedicated service, CAPF personnel often face delays in promotions and lack the authority to lead their forces, as top leadership positions are typically reserved for individuals outside their ranks. Gandhi further noted that CAPF members possess specialized training, valuable ground experience, and profound strategic insight.

He argued that from a national security perspective, it is essential for these forces to be led by individuals who understand the unique challenges and needs of the soldiers. He stated that the institutional injustice stemming from being denied leadership opportunities, along with long-standing issues related to pay, welfare, and respect, undermines the morale of those who have devoted their lives to serving and protecting the nation.
