Rahul Dravid Celebrates Rohit Sharma's New Stand at Wankhede Stadium

Dravid's Heartfelt Congratulations
Former head coach of the Indian cricket team, Rahul Dravid, expressed his warm congratulations to Rohit Sharma following the dedication of a stand in his name at the renowned Wankhede Stadium.
In a video shared by the Mumbai Indians, Dravid reminisced about Rohit's journey from a young boy aspiring to play at Wankhede to now having a stand named after him, describing it as a "well-deserved recognition" for his significant contributions to both Mumbai and Indian cricket.
A Touch of Humor
“Hey Rohit. You’ve hit so many sixes into those stands that they had to name one after you! Congratulations! As a young boy entering the iconic Wankhede Stadium, I’m sure you dreamed of playing there and achieving great performances, which you have done.”
“While you might not have envisioned having a stand named after you, it’s a fitting tribute to your impact on Mumbai and Indian cricket,” Dravid added.
Dravid concluded his message with a light-hearted remark, indicating he now knows whom to reach out to for tickets.
Looking Forward to More Sixes
“This honor is truly well-deserved—congratulations! I hope you had a wonderful day with your loved ones. I look forward to seeing many more sixes hit into the Rohit Sharma Stand during your matches. And when I need tickets in Mumbai, I know who to ask now!”

A Journey from Debut to Glory
Rohit Sharma's international career began under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid, with his ODI debut occurring against Ireland on June 23, 2007. Fast forward 17 years, and their relationship has come full circle, with Dravid coaching the Indian team during some of Rohit's most significant achievements as captain.
The duo led India to the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup and celebrated victory in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. They also managed to secure a rare Test series draw in South Africa in early 2024.
Rohit is set to play his next match at Wankhede Stadium for the first time since the unveiling of the Rohit Sharma Stand, with the Mumbai Indians facing off against the Delhi Capitals on May 21.
