While addressing the assembly, Sonkar pointed out that the BJP often criticizes Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in Parliament, yet continues to reference and criticize leaders like Netaji within the assembly. She argued that such political tactics distract from pressing issues.

Expressing concern over the status of women in the state, Sonkar highlighted the alarming rise in incidents of violence against women in Uttar Pradesh, labeling it a serious issue. She noted that women previously held leadership roles at the panchayat level, but now there is confusion surrounding panchayat elections, which are not being conducted properly.

The Samajwadi Party MLA called for a 50% reservation for women in the assembly, asserting that women should also receive this quota on current assembly seats to enhance their political participation.

She questioned the BJP government, asking why, when women are advancing in every field, they are not afforded equal opportunities in political representation.
