Raghav Chadha's Z+ Security Withdrawn Amid AAP Turmoil
Security Status of AAP's Raghav Chadha
The Z+ security detail for Raghav Chadha, a Rajya Sabha MP from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has been rescinded by the Punjab police. According to sources, a central security arrangement is currently being established. Chadha, who represents Punjab in the Rajya Sabha, was initially granted Z+ security by the state government. However, this protection was revoked last week as discussions of internal discord within the AAP intensified. Following the withdrawal, Chadha is now under the protection of the central government.
Sources indicate that until the formal confirmation of the central security arrangement is made, the Delhi police have been assigned to oversee his safety. Recently, the party also removed him from his position as the deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha. In response to this decision, Chadha stated that he has not been defeated but rather silenced. AAP leaders have accused him of avoiding raising Punjab-related issues in Parliament and instead focusing on public relations rather than adopting a confrontational stance against the central government.
Chadha has publicly refuted the criticisms emerging from within the party, while certain factions of the Punjab unit have accused him of failing to robustly address state-specific concerns in Parliament. This situation has garnered significant attention, particularly as it unfolded shortly after Chadha's removal from a key parliamentary role and amid parallel actions against other AAP leaders, including a recent ED raid on the residence of party MP Ashok Mittal.
The developments suggest turmoil within the AAP's Punjab unit, leading to scrutiny over both organizational and security-related decisions. So far, there has been no official statement from the Punjab police or central agencies regarding the reasons behind the withdrawal of security.
