Raghav Chadha Highlights Gig Workers' Struggles

New Delhi: On Monday, Raghav Chadha, a Member of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party, shared a compelling video of himself dressed as a Blinkit delivery agent, emphasizing the daily challenges faced by gig workers. His initiative aims to advocate for improved working conditions within India's rapidly expanding quick commerce industry.

Chadha took to X to post the video, captioning it: "Away from boardrooms, at the grassroots. I lived their day."

The AAP leader expressed his desire to step away from policy discussions and experience life at the grassroots level firsthand.

In the shared video, Chadha is seen donning Blinkit's distinctive yellow uniform and helmet, riding as a passenger on a delivery partner's motorcycle while they fulfill various orders throughout the city.

The footage captures what seems to be a typical work shift, providing insight into the demanding pace and pressures associated with last-mile deliveries.

Chadha has consistently criticized the unrealistic 10-minute delivery promises made by quick commerce companies, arguing that such expectations compel workers to take dangerous risks on the road.

Previously, during a Zero Hour discussion in the Rajya Sabha, he urged lawmakers to consider the human cost behind the convenience of ultra-fast deliveries.

"These individuals are not machines; they are someone's father, husband, brother, or son. The House must reflect on their plight. The cruelty of this 10-minute delivery culture must cease," he stated.

Through his recent post, Chadha aims to emphasize the importance of lived experiences, shining a light on the safety and well-being of delivery workers.
