Raghav Chadha Speaks Out: 'Silenced, Not Defeated' After AAP Leadership Change

Raghav Chadha's Bold Statement

New Delhi: Raghav Chadha, a Member of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), expressed his feelings of being 'silenced, not defeated' following his recent removal as the party's deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha.

In a video shared on X, he claimed that his party attempted to restrict his ability to voice concerns in Parliament.

Chadha stated, 'Whenever I have the opportunity, I address issues that affect the public, including those often ignored. Is it wrong to discuss the problems faced by the people? Did I do something wrong?'

He further criticized AAP, alleging that they had instructed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to prevent him from speaking.

'The AAP has communicated to Parliament that I should not be allowed to speak. I want to make it clear—do not mistake my silence for defeat,' Chadha asserted.

'I have raised numerous issues that have benefited the common man. What harm did that bring to the Aam Aadmi Party? Why is there an effort to silence me?' he questioned.

On Thursday, AAP submitted a request to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat for Chadha's removal as deputy leader, suggesting Punjab MP Ashok Mittal as his successor.

Sources indicate that the letter requested that Chadha, representing Punjab in the Rajya Sabha, should not be allocated speaking time from the AAP's quota.

Once regarded as a close ally of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and one of the youngest MPs in India, Chadha has been instrumental in party operations, especially in Punjab and during AAP's governance in Delhi.
