Controversy Surrounds Tommy Genesis's Latest Release

Indian rapper Raftaar has publicly criticized Canadian rapper Tommy Genesis, who has Indian roots, for what he perceives as a disrespectful portrayal of Hinduism in her recent music video, "True Blue." Released on June 20, the video features Genesis painted blue, adorned with gold jewelry and a red bindi, which many viewers interpreted as an imitation of a Hindu Goddess, sparking significant backlash on social media.

In an Instagram story, Raftaar expressed his offense and took action by reporting the video to YouTube, sharing a screenshot of his report. He stated, "This is a mockery of my religion. This shouldn’t exist," urging his followers to join him in reporting the content to facilitate its removal.

Many viewers found her appearance reminiscent of a Hindu Goddess, which they deemed offensive. Additionally, her use of a cross as a prop and suggestive gestures, such as licking it, have drawn ire from both Hindu and Christian communities.
