In an exciting turn of events at the Malaysia Open, India's PV Sindhu and the men's doubles team of Satwik Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have both advanced to the quarterfinals. Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, showcased her skills by defeating Japan's Tomoka Miyazaki, while the men's duo secured their spot with a solid win over Malaysia's Junaidi Arif and Roy King Yap. PV Sindhu Advances to Quarterfinals

India's two-time Olympic medalist, PV Sindhu, along with the men's doubles team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, has successfully progressed to the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Open held on Thursday.


Participating in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 1000 tournament, the former world champion defeated Japan's eighth seed, Tomoka Miyazaki, to secure her spot in the final eight.


Currently ranked 18th in the BWF women's singles, Sindhu triumphed over world No. 33, Sung Shuo-yun from Chinese Taipei, with scores of 21-13 and 22-20 in her opening match.


She dominated the first game with a score of 21-8 and continued her strong performance to clinch the second game 21-13.


In the quarterfinals, Sindhu will compete against the winner of the match between China's Gao Fang Jie and Japan's third seed, Akane Yamaguchi.


Satwik and Chirag Secure Their Quarterfinal Spot

In the men's doubles category, the third-seeded pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy also advanced, achieving a 21-18, 21-11 victory over Malaysia's Junaidi Arif and Roy King Yap in just 39 minutes.


This win improved their head-to-head record against the Malaysian duo to 4-0.


Next, they will face the winners of the match between Chen Zhi Ray/Lin Yu Chieh from Chinese Taipei and Indonesia's sixth seeds, Fajar Alfian/Fikri Muhammad.


Previously, Chirag and Satwiksairaj reached the second round by defeating Lee Jhe-huei and Yang Po-hsuan from Chinese Taipei with a score of 21-13, 21-15 in a match lasting only 35 minutes.
