Putin remarked on the longstanding friendly relations between Russia and India, which date back to 1947, and acknowledged the global recognition of Indian talents, particularly in coding and technology. He also commended India's advancements in artificial intelligence.
In a subtle critique of the United States, he noted that India has never succumbed to external pressures, stating, "India is a country which has never followed any diktat from abroad.” His comments followed a previous assertion that pressuring India to cut ties with Russia is “useless.” He acknowledged the U.S. attempts to influence India regarding its cooperation with Russia, particularly concerning oil purchases, which have been a point of contention.
Putin expressed admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that attempts to pressure him are futile, as he prioritizes the interests of India's 1.5 billion citizens. He affirmed that external pressures have not affected the strong ties between Moscow and New Delhi, stating, "Therefore, we do not see any harm or threat in this partnership." The SPIEF is regarded as a counterpoint to the Davos Summit held in the United States.
