Putin's Appreciation for Modi's Diplomatic Efforts
New Delhi, Dec 5: Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday for his role in addressing the ongoing Ukraine conflict. He noted that their discussions since his arrival in New Delhi on Thursday evening were both informative and beneficial.
During his opening remarks at the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit held at the Hyderabad House, Putin stated, "I appreciate the invitation and the productive evening we shared, which allowed us to delve into the current situation in Ukraine and our collaborative efforts, including with the United States, towards a peaceful resolution of this crisis."
He further acknowledged PM Modi's dedication to resolving the situation, saying, "Thank you for your attention and your efforts in this regard," while Modi sat beside him.
Putin emphasized the deep historical ties between India and Russia, remarking, "Regardless of how we describe our relationship, what truly matters is its substance, which is profound. We highly value this connection, and we recognize your personal commitment to it, esteemed Prime Minister."
He pointed out that both nations have made significant progress in enhancing their relations over the years, with expanding opportunities for cooperation as their economies grow.
"We are exploring new avenues in high technology, aviation, space, and artificial intelligence. Our military-technical cooperation is built on trust, and we aim to advance in all these sectors, which further highlights the strength and trust inherent in our relationship," Putin remarked.
As the meeting commenced, he noted that teams from both Moscow and New Delhi had effectively prepared for his visit, stating, "Several important documents have been drafted, and we will have the chance to discuss them further today. I am optimistic that we will achieve positive outcomes from our discussions."
Earlier, PM Modi warmly welcomed President Putin to the Hyderabad House, reinforcing the India-Russia Special and Privileged Partnership as they engaged in extensive discussions to bolster bilateral ties.
On the second and final day of his State Visit, Putin's schedule is full, including a business event and a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu in the evening.
He is also set to participate in a business event at Bharat Mandapam, aimed at enhancing commercial and investment relations.
