Punjab's CM Bhagwant Mann Accuses BJP of Dangerous Political Tactics

In a recent press conference, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused the BJP-led central government of employing dangerous political tactics against Punjab, particularly through the misuse of agencies like the Enforcement Directorate. He condemned the BJP for fostering division and hatred, asserting that such strategies will not succeed in Punjab, a state known for its resilience. Bhagwant Mann's Strong Allegations Against the BJP

In Chandigarh, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accused the BJP-led central government of engaging in perilous political maneuvers against Punjab. His remarks came after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted new searches involving Punjab Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora.

Mann criticized the central government for allegedly weaponizing agencies like the ED and CBI for political gain, labeling the BJP as a party that fosters division and hatred.

During a press conference in Sangrur, he claimed that the BJP has politicized various investigative agencies, using them as tools against political opponents across states, including Maharashtra, Odisha, Bihar, Karnataka, and West Bengal, with Punjab now in their sights.

The ED's recent operations targeted Arora and others linked to him as part of a money laundering investigation, with officials confirming that Arora's official residence in Chandigarh was among five locations searched.

These searches were initiated following the registration of a new case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Previously, in April, the ED had also raided Arora's properties under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

Mann, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA representing Ludhiana West, condemned the misuse of the ED, asserting that the agency's raids are not aimed at uncovering illegal activities but rather to intimidate individuals into joining the BJP.

He cited the example of Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal, questioning the lack of ED action against him after his recent switch to the BJP.

The Chief Minister pointed out that the ED's searches against Arora have occurred three times in just over a year, yet no incriminating evidence has been found.

Mann accused the central government of instilling fear among its opponents, asserting that while such tactics may work in other states, they will not succeed in Punjab.

He firmly stated that Punjab is resilient and will not be intimidated by threats, recalling how Prime Minister Modi had to retract his stance on the controversial farm laws.

In a post on social media, Mann emphasized Punjab's historical resilience, stating that it is a land that even Aurangzeb could not conquer.

He further asserted that Punjab, the birthplace of Bhagat Singh, will not yield to Modi's political strategies. Mann predicted that the unethical alliance between the ED and BJP will face its downfall in Punjab.

Several AAP leaders, including Harpal Singh Cheema and Aman Arora, echoed Mann's sentiments, criticizing the central government for its actions.

During the press conference, Mann also highlighted the Centre's discriminatory approach, noting the delay in releasing rural development funds and addressing issues crucial to Punjab, such as water resources and the Bhakra Beas Management Board.

He accused the BJP of fostering division among communities to gain electoral advantage, asserting that such tactics will not work in Punjab, where Hindu-Sikh unity is strong.

Mann claimed that the BJP's so-called 'Vijay Rath' will come to a halt in Punjab after the 2027 Assembly elections, alleging that the party relies on the misuse of agencies and vote manipulation, which undermines democracy.

He warned that if the BJP continues to view Punjab with malice, the people will respond decisively, stating that such authoritarianism will not be tolerated.

Mann further alleged that the BJP incites riots wherever it goes to secure votes, dubbing it the 'Bharat Jalao Party.' He expressed concern that if the BJP gains a majority in the Lok Sabha, they might even attempt to erase Punjab's name from the national anthem.

He also addressed calls from BJP leaders, like Sunil Jakhar, for a sedition case against him over his accusations regarding recent blasts in Jalandhar and Amritsar, questioning their authority to judge his patriotism.
