Significant Drug Trafficking Arrest in Kangra

In a significant operation against drug trafficking, authorities in Gaggal apprehended a 27-year-old man from Punjab late on Saturday night.


At approximately 1:40 AM on July 5, 2026, police stopped the suspect near the Sarah Manjhi Bridge in Gaggal. During the interrogation, the individual attempted to dispose of a suspicious packet from his pants pocket. Upon inspection in the presence of witnesses, law enforcement officials seized 6.74 grams of heroin (chitta).


The suspect has been identified as Balwinder Singh, son of Naresh Singh, hailing from Durang Khad Tarahari, District Pathankot, Punjab. A case has been filed at Gaggal Police Station under FIR No. 65/26, dated 05/07/2026, U/S 21‑61‑85 NDPS Act.


The investigation is ongoing, led by ASI Mohinder Singh from Gaggal Police Station. Station House Officer Udhham Singh Rajput emphasized that the crackdown on drug traffickers will persist with rigorous enforcement.
