Punjab Police's Major Operation Against Terrorism

On Friday, the Punjab Police announced the dismantling of a terrorist module allegedly supported by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). This group, identified as Babbar Khalsa International, was reportedly plotting targeted killings and attacks on police establishments in and around Amritsar. The Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, confirmed that three individuals, including a minor, have been apprehended in connection with this conspiracy. He stated that a significant terrorist plot has been thwarted, potentially saving countless innocent lives.


Details of the Operation

In a post on X, Yadav revealed that the state Special Operations Cell in Mohali successfully uncovered the Babbar Khalsa International terrorist module, which is operated by individuals based in the UK and Pakistan, including Nishan Singh and Harvinder Rinda. During the operation, authorities seized two grenades, a pistol, and ammunition. The arrested suspects have been identified as Sahajpal Singh and Vikramjeet Singh, both residents of Ramdas in Amritsar rural, along with a minor.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Mohali police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Explosive Substances Act. The DGP mentioned that the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are anticipated. He emphasized the Punjab Police's unwavering commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, eradicating organized crime, and ensuring peace, security, and harmony throughout the state.
