Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that this seizure marks a major success for the Counter Intelligence Unit in Amritsar. He noted, "In a significant breakthrough, the Counter Intelligence has exposed a cross-border drug trafficking and organized crime network, apprehending one suspect and recovering 20 kilograms of heroin." Initial investigations suggest that the arrested individual was acting on the instructions of a handler based abroad, who allegedly has connections with cross-border traffickers.

According to Yadav, the detained suspect was responsible for receiving shipments of heroin in the border area and distributing them to various individuals across Punjab. He mentioned that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar. The DGP indicated that investigators are now working to uncover further connections within this network.
He emphasized that the focus of the investigation will be on identifying all individuals involved in this racket and determining whether this module is linked to previously apprehended drug trafficking networks. Police officials stated that the inquiry will include examining financial transactions, communication records, and cross-border contacts related to the suspects.
