FIR Filed in Guru Granth Sahib Case

On Sunday, the Punjab Police initiated legal action against 16 individuals, including the former chief secretary of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), in connection with the disappearance of 328 copies of the Guru Granth Sahib in 2020.


According to an official statement, the case was registered at the Division-C police station in Amritsar under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 295 (causing damage to a place of worship or religious object), 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 409 (criminal breach of trust), 465 (forgery), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).


The FIR names several individuals, notably former SGPC chief secretary Roop Singh and former secretary of the religious propagation committee, Manjeet Singh.


Additionally, the statement lists other accused individuals, including Gurbachan Singh, Satinder Singh, Nishan Singh, Parmjit Singh, Gurmakh Singh, Jujhar Singh, Baj Singh, Dalbir Singh, Kamaljeet Singh, Kulwant Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Satinder Singh, and Amarjeet Singh.
