Punjab Kings Set Their Sights on IPL 2026

The Punjab Kings are gearing up for the IPL 2026 season, aiming to secure their first championship title, with a significant spotlight on Shashank Singh. Last season, he emerged as a key player, almost leading the team to victory in the finals.

In a recent social media post by the franchise, Shashank demonstrated his impressive batting skills, executing a flick shot, a helicopter shot, and effortlessly hitting a full toss, showcasing his confidence and poise on the field.

Shashank Singh in action

During the IPL 2025 season, Shashank accumulated 350 runs over 14 innings, boasting an impressive average of 50.00 and a strike rate of 153.50. His standout performance was a remarkable 61* off just 30 balls in the final, where he narrowly missed leading Punjab Kings to their inaugural title.

Shashank Singh's Consistency in the Middle Order

The franchise's confidence in Shashank was clear when he and Prabhsimran Singh were the only players retained prior to last season. He validated that trust by consistently scoring over 350 runs in consecutive seasons. To date, Shashank has tallied 773 runs in 33 innings, averaging 40.68 with a strike rate of 157.75, including five half-centuries.

Despite his IPL achievements, Shashank faced challenges during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, where he managed only 101 runs in seven innings for Chhattisgarh. Nevertheless, the Punjab Kings are optimistic that his franchise form will carry over as they strive to improve upon last year's near victory.

Upcoming Matches for Punjab Kings

The Punjab Kings will kick off their IPL 2026 journey on March 31 against the Gujarat Titans at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. Following that, they will compete against the Chennai Super Kings on April 3 at Chepauk, the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 6 at Eden Gardens, and the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11 back in Mullanpur.
